I mean, have you tried mining obsidian? Why wouldn't you just use the method that doesn't take longer than the age of the known universe?

its hard and everytime i try do it lava gets on me I get out of it and step in water but It scares me

It's not about mining the obsidian, you're gonna have to do that either way. It's about finding the obsidian, and the other dangers that are presented.
