Trump sure as hell is responsible for the violence on January 6th. Not only did he feed his base the lie about the election being stolen starting on election night, he repeatedly tweeted and made speeches further feeding into and fueling that lie for months, which led to death threats against any Republican official that upheld their sworn duty to accurately conduct and/or report on election results. Death threats were also made against Fox News employees after they declared Biden the winner of Arizona.
Even weeks before that day, Gabriel Sterling, the election manager in Georgia held a press briefing telling Trump to tone down the rhetoric because it was dangeous, stating 'someone is going to get hurt, someone is going to get shot, someone is going to get killed' after Georgia officials and poll workers were threatened due to declaring Biden the winner of their state. Trump didn't of course and a second press conference was held a couple of weeks later not only exposing Trump's lies about the Georgia election but further. reiterating how dangerous his rhetoric was.
Even during his 11,012 word speech on January 6th speech, he told the crowd to "fight", "fight like hell" etc, over 20 times and only once used the word "peaceful" in his entire speech. The violence on that day was entirely foreseeable based solely on Trump's big lie and the propaganda he and his allies spread for weeks and months on end.
