Evidently so. I got yelled at here for suggesting that it's racism (by definition) to hire actors of any race for their skin color alone and that Hollywood should cast on the basis of talent, not skin color.
When I asked if it was equally discriminatory to then ignore hair color when casting agents (my example was Idina Menzel being cast as Elsa despite the two having dramatically different hair colors) I got the, "WeLl tHaT's dIfFeReNt" argument. I call BS. If we shouldn't allow whites to voice the roles of blacks, we shouldn't allow blondes to be played by brunettes. Why do melanin levels matter more than keratin color?
Life would be so much simpler if people on all sides would quite focusing on physical characteristics. Judge people by how well they can execute a mission. It's that simple.
