I'm a Roman Catholic and I can safely say that no true Christian ever condemns a person.
Ideas? Sure, ideas can be wrong. Actions? Actions can be wrong. People? Nah. Merely existing isn't a sin (insert Original Sin/Baptism joke here;).
Now, I'm not a professor of Apologetics (the defense of Catholicism) so I won't get into our complicated views on homosexuality here, but know that the most basic tenant of Christianity (Love God, then love your neighbor, then finally yourself) has to be there for someone claiming to be Christian to in fact be living a Christian life.
The point of this long ramble? I'm not convinced that man/woman you were talking to really understands or lives a good Christian life.
