The point they miss is this. Orwell cared about truth. Hence why the government propaganda in 1984 spouted: War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. The censorship of reality is what made their regime despotic.
In our time, with a lunatic like Trump, is not hard at all to spot which side is parroting those falsehoods these days.
