The reason we ask for sources is to quickly verify if the story is true or not. See leftists like to lie and spread misinformation to the point that if they said the sky was blue, I'd have to go outside and look to make sure they aren't lying.
I also ask for sources in order to get information on subjects I'm not familiar with.
