Well Mojang confirmed that they didn't want to add vertical slabs because they wanted to keep the game simple. Seems like everyone wanted it so much that they memed it to death.
but we all want vertical slabs so much. they should add an update that's not very major that adds more craftable slabs AND vertical slabs that can be made out of wood or stone
