Somehow it’s taken me this long to realize these are two actual real life go***mn photos of our Capitol building

Despite the news which has been constantly on my mind for the past 48 hours, my brain somehow didn’t really process that

What struck me is the stark contrast. The first photo could’ve been taken from a movie set about JFK and the advent of Camelot and the second looks like something from a Walking Dead shoot.

The orange glow from the Capitol dome almost looks like the building is burning through the haze of tear gas.

I’m still not quite sure what exactly to feel. Anger, sadness, fear....mostly anger. For some reason, I’m reminded of noted odd-facial-hair enthusiast, Robert Bork, when he published a book with one of the (IMO) all-time condescending titles: Slouching Towards Gommorah. Released in the late-90s, this hairy doorknob tries to blame liberal ideals for the “decline of Western civilization.”

I think, had he lived, he would’ve been so happy to see this finally take place. In reality, we’ve been slouching towards fascism all this time.
