Is this America? Is this happening? | State Sen. Ask black people or native Americans if this kind of thing can happen in America.

If Trump tries to declare martial law the Joint Chiefs will tell him to get f**ked just before they resign.
And their replacements will do the same.

Guess who probably wouldn't have been big on the Insurrection Act?

(compliance of civilians to military authority?) To be fair, he MAY have not considered black and Native Americans civilians.

I haven't researched much on George W.'s thoughts on non-white people. He was a smart and wise man though.

It's very ambiguous. As far as I know, he wanted peace with Native Americans, but his ideas for that violated their beliefs, and when they started a war, he would send in an army that was, more often than not, defeated.
I don't know his thoughts on non-white people, he treated his slaves well, but didn't want black in the continental army. It's confusing.

In the 18th century, I'm guessing it would have been considered radical for Washington to push anti-slavery beliefs.

True
When he died, he freed all his slaves that he was legally allowed to, and pushed anti-slavery beliefs, but he only employed blacks in the army when he had to
