Sounds like you've seen more than your share of darkness in your life. I work with someone who was born and raised in the Soviet Union- he even served a full tour in the Soviet army. He emigrated to the USA legally back when the Iron Curtain came down. He's now truly one one of the finest people, and one of the most patriotic Americans I know. He worries about the same things you do- and this worries me.

Worked in refugee placement off and on. No one believes the evil we've avoided for so long. The Russians i worked with were great, they really appreciate the US. A few people have reached out, there is no place to go if the US falls, they feel like the whole world will collapse. Scary stuff.
