I’m all for new ideas. But know this, since we started cutting taxes on the very rich and corporations the Federal Government has less money coming in and they then send less money back to the states that then send less money to the towns and cities.
So what do you get? New or higher “fees” and increases in property taxes as cities and towns have to balance their budgets. I’m fortunate to live in a small town that has a large power plant that pays the majority of my town’s tax bill. Every town around me now has to pay for trash collection that use to be part of your property taxes.
So limit the government spending is a fine idea, but most government spending is military related (including my well paying job) that are really job welfare for defense contractors. They purposely don’t make parts in one state, but many to prevent unnecessary and unwanted military projects to get cancelled. No one wants to vote for cutting jobs in their own district.
How do you reign that in? Then how do you reign in corporations like Walmart that pay so poorly that we have to supplement their employees with food assistance while the corporations take in record profits? How do reign in corporations (and the very rich) hiding money overseas?
It’s not a simple answer to a simple question. It’s almost the butterfly effect.
