I do not believe that deleting a perfectly acceptable meme is the solution. That would also be the most tyrannical move of all, chucking out the baby of good comments out with the bathwater of the bad.

The solution IMO is to permaban Timber and all his alts for the same reason his original account was banned, since his behavior hasn’t changed and has indeed gotten worse.

I’ve deleted dozens of Timber’s comments on that meme already. You may not know this but he is a relentless spammer. Keeping his comments off that meme completely would require me to return every 5-10 minutes and hit the delete button a few more times. It’s been a relentless time-suck. I’m losing patience, frankly. I decided to let his latest couple comments stand in the hopes it will shut him up.

If I unfeature or delete the meme I strongly believe he will just move on and spam the same comments on a different meme. And the cycle continues.

And no, neither meme is an attack on Timber despite his claiming to see it that way. It’s a statement about treating others with respect online and complying with the law.

I don't think once a site mod unfeatures a meme it can be featured again except by a site mod. I reluctantly did it for you, since you were so adamant about your free speech. You can stop the condescending mansplaining about my job now. Case closed. Delete the meme if you're truly concerned about the welfare of your beloved stream members.

If I delete the meme, what will stop Timber from taking his jerkish commentary elsewhere? Indeed he has threatened as much, and I’ve seen enough of his behavior to believe him. Nothing will stop him, not until his latest alt is banned.

In the meantime, the meme serves something of a quarantine function and as additional evidence that will help support his new alt account’s eventual banning.

Seriously, do your job and ban his alt rather than whine at PoliticsTOO mods for making choices about how to contain trolls on our private stream.

I appreciate your perspective. I see it a little differently though. I don’t think people are stupid enough to fall for his crap; and if they are that dumb, then I don’t really care what they think about me.

I see — and I think the vast majority of others will see — a desperate guy flailing around and trying to take others down with him (not just me), but failing miserably.

And again, you have to understand just how relentless of a spammer he is. If I delete his crap he will just re-spam it again. Either on the same meme or on a different meme of mine. Or on someone else’s meme, which would be even worse. Right now, he is fixated on that meme and thereby effectively quarantined.

Yeah, I’m a little guy. I’m just here to make memes and try to make the site a better place. Somehow I get wrapped up in this drama too. I don’t go looking for it honestly but nor do I back down when I see something wrong going on.
