And with the early dawn
Moving right along
Couldn't buy an eyeful of sleep...

Built with stolen parts
A telephone in my heart
Someone get me a priest
To put my mind to bed
This ringing in my head
Is this a cure or is this a disease

I'm a huge, HUGE Pearl Jam fan but Cornell will FOREVER be the BEST lyricist and song writer to ever exist. I have a list of my favorite top 10 vocalists and Cornell will ALWAYS be number one.

I struggled so much after my mom, my best friend, passed away suddenly. She was my rock, my whole life. She shared my interest in poetry and music and loved hearing my take on songs. Told her i can't believe Cornell is gone. She passed one year after he did. Then his song, "Sunshower" played one day and i lost it. My mom had a saying from her mom "Rain with sunshine will rain tomorrow at same time." Sunshowers make me think of her. Nearly every line of "Sunshower" helps be with her absence.

Dark as roses (she had huge gardens)
Fine as sand
Feel your healing
And your sting again (she comforted me many times and was brutally honest with me)
Hear you laughing
And my soul is saved (She had her way of recentering me and hearing her laugh was calming for me. I loved making her laugh)
On forgotten graves you cry (my sister died young and mom feared people would forget her)

Crawl like ivy
Up my spine (she had her ways of getting through to me)
Through my nerves
And into my eyes (i always felt better after crying to her/with her)
Cuts like anguish your
Recollections of better days
Gone by (i know she missed her daughter/my sister)

But it's alright

When you're all in pain
And you feel the rain come down
It's alright
When you find your way
Then you see it disappear
It's alright
Though your gardens gray
I know all your graces
Will someday flower
In a sweet
Sunshower (the garden part hit way too close to home. All her gardens overgrew after her death. Slowly we're restoring everything.)

Eyes like oceans
So far away (as she lay dead on the living room floor, her blue eyes were closed, to never see me again)
A feathet trails to a better way
Worried mornings
Turned into
Worried days
And into worried nights (so many times i was on the phone late with her venting and crying that my 15 year marriage was ending)

Then the chorus again....

Then my favorite line....

All you'll be you are today. (I take it as mom's way of saying "you'll be fine. you're a great person. stay strong."

Anyway. I love Chris Cornell. I miss him .

Definitely a lyrical genius, sorry to hear about your loss, I just found out literally, just, heard a really good friend passed yesterday, so you're post was actually on time. Sometimes we dwell on a person's death rather than celebrate their life. Eddie mother f√cking Cain, that's how I called him by name, cause he was. Me and him worked for a carnival and moved a Merry Go Round together, ride partners, brought us to know each other, that will put a bond between ya doing that kinda work. Unfortunately I haven't spoken to my friend in a few years, mainly cause I couldn't stand his trifling ol lady, LoL , pretty trifling on my part really. But I'm glad I got to know him, definitely won't ever forget him. Sorry I'm rambling. Yeah I been getting down on some of Cornell's cover's lately, which I knew a few but man he can take anyone's song and just make it Chris Cornell's, he did, man, just an unbelievable Beatles ticket to ride cover, okay okay okay I'm chatty Cathy sometimes.... I'll be back LoL

🤘 i get it. I understand.

First marriage wasn't perfect but I'm not a quitter. Apparently she was. She filed. Not lack of trying on my part, she had no interest in reconnecting or couples counseling. However, i was made a believer of things happening for a reason. Without imposing religion on anybody by my next statement, i prayed to God that it was not fair that we not only have to have our hearts broken but that our soul mate is out there somewhere but WE cannot find them but God knows where they are and THAT'S NOT FAIR. Six weeks later, I met that soul mate. My second wife has ruined me for any other woman, meaning, if she died, I'd have no interest in anybody else. Our connection is amazing and unreal.

When i signed the divorce papers i was so happy to be "free" of her that i blared "What You Are" Audioslave on the way home and screamed it. "NOW I'M FREE FROM WHAT YOU ARE, NOW I'M FREE FROM WHAT YOU NEED!!!!!" It was a very toxic marriage and i didn't realize it. Others looking in knew it but didn't say anything. She sure doesn't deserve this devotion.

Music is such a gift, thank God in heaven for it.
