I agree, and the failure to properly teach Watergate and McCarthyism and other sordid parts of our history is partly to blame for Trump's rise.
But I fear it will just be glossed over for any number of reasons: too complex, too controversial, too vulgar, too recent.
They probably won't even start teaching this point in our history for at least another 50 years or so, if current trends are any guide. All my history classes growing up pretty much stopped at the Vietnam War. Again, riiiiight before Watergate.
