My parents laughed and said "oh I thought that was your best friend? You're just confused". I've actually come out to them twice now like a decade apart. Same reaction. I had lots of "best friends" lol (best friend abbreviates to bf tho!)
I don't really resent them for it- they grew up in a different world (communist China during Mao's dictatorship) and are rather set in their ways

Yeah it sucks what they went through and they didn't have sex education, or at least some kind of real sex ed, because it was banned under Mao. I literally told them about oral herpes in middle school when I had sex ed.. but I think there's hope to educate/change their perspective
Also, I was thinking- It'll be hella confusing for them when I marry my "best friend" one day, hopefully🥰
