Actually the glass if half filled with water, en and other half with oxygen. Because water is heavier than oxygen it drops below it.
If you put a coaster or something on it. You can put the glass in a vacuum (while holding the coaster on it), but when you remove the coaster the water starts to boil as the atmospheric pressure allows the water to expend, turning it back into a gas.
