Looks like McConnell has already be struck by his own Force lightning.

McConnell can’t veto Bidens cabinet. But certainly will make everything as difficult as possible for the sin of being a Democrat.

Eyyyyy | Electoral College Electoral Affirmative Action | image tagged in kamala harris hotline bling, electoral college, affirmative action, election, elections, democracy | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Man

What will conservatives do when they find out their only prayer at winning the Presidency is through an unearned boost?

how are those two things even comparable

“Conservatives” have always complained that affirmative action unfairly gives an advantage to minorities simply based on the color of their skin.

The electoral college gives more weight to less-populated states and diminishes the value of the overall popular vote (see the presidential elections of 2000 and 2016 for immediate reference).

affirmative action does give blacks and latinos an unfair advantage because it takes away from whites and asians and in fact said minoritys. the electoral college on the other hand allows smaller states to actually influence the election, because if we went off of the popular vote they wouldent mean anything and primarily leftist states with high urbanization/ population would win almost every time so haveing the electoral college makes it so super small states can have a small but meaningfull sway on the election, also with immigrants being on the left primarily the system could easily be ruined.

“it isnt affirmative action, because it doesnt guarantee anything it is just something that allows for states to have a say in politics.”

If it gives more weight to the minority, it’s no different than affirmative action, no matter how you try to argue otherwise.

In providing evidence, you’ve proven my point, repeatedly. Time to do the slow Bruce (David) Banner walk into the sunset.

it gives more weight sure but it doesnt make them worth more than they actually are unlike affirmative action.

What the actual f**k are you talking about? Skin color gives weight in college admissions and job interviews the same way being a shithole state gives more weight in presidential elections.

That’s a DIRECT correlation.
0 ups, 4y,

its not about being a shithole state its about every state being under one system, its like saying affirmitave action trancends skin color

So that’s means one vote doesn’t equal one vote.

That diminishes the value of one citizen’s vote based on where they live.

This is getting tedious.

one vote means one vote. one senator means one senator. it does not diminish anyone it allows everyone to have a say equal to their population

One vote is one vote, except in presidential elections. If a majority (even by one vote) votes for one candidate but the other candidate wins because of the electoral college, the minority is given more power than they’ve earned.

Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, personal responsibility, and the like...isn’t that what Republicans preach?

...ad for the record, only pussies call people cowards online.

Just sayin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
0 ups, 4y
the left only complains about the electoral college when they lose... anyway, for the most part the person who gets the popular vote wins only in a very few instances is that untrue, the electoral college gives those with smaller populations a better chance of effecting the election, it doesnt give them something unearned it gives them a fair amount of points.

how am i a pussy for calling you a coward, all you did was hide behind a image for a straight 5-10 mins

Thank you for understanding. When the popular vote matters, one vote = one vote. Under the electoral college, one vote is weighted one way or the other but it’s not equal to one vote.

The only time the electoral college “works” is when it benefits the Republican Party and gives the minority more say than the majority.

Effectively, it’s affirmative action for idiots.

it evens the playing field. if popular vote was installed coastal and leftist states would control the election every year therefore benefiting the democratic party greatly.

Thank you for using an 8-year-old article to prove my point.

The electoral college is affirmative action for “shithole” (to borrow and Trumpism) states.
0 ups, 4y
i can find more recent articles although i thought the atlantic was best for you.

it isnt affirmative action, because it doesnt guarantee anything it is just something that allows for states to have a say in politics.

“if popular vote was installed coastal and leftist states would control the election every year therefore benefiting the democratic party greatly.”

Waaaaaaah our policies only benefit the few so we need to curve the vote to make sure our side gets an equal say, even though we’re the minority.

Sound familiar?

Democratic (and predominantly union-friendly) states are richer than right-to-work states, as a starter. The outlier really being Texas but that’s oil money.

Rich states pay federal tax dollars that go to poor states.

Socialism.

why do you keep saying socialism?

“Coastal” and “leftist” states also predominantly pay for the majority of the country. The northeast (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc.) and California float the rest of the country. Hell, California, on its own, is the fifth largest economy in the world.

But yeah, tell me how Kentucky or North Dakota should be telling those states how their money gets spent.

That’s sounds like....duh, duh, DUHHHHH!!!

SOCIALISM.
0 ups, 4y,
1 reply
kentucky and north dakota are not individually telling those states how their money should get spent but those states have a small say in getting a repersentative who possibly will influence those states, mostly it is up to local leaders.
0 ups, 4y,

No, Kentucky and North Dakota and Mississippi and Alabama are sucking off federal tax dollars that the “coastal and leftist” states pay in.

When you take the money from rich people (blue states) and give it to poor people (red states), that’s socialism.

It’s been repeated probably ten times already. I’m sorry if the ridges of your brain have been too smoothed out to grasp the concept.

Have you driven on an interstate highway? Thank socialism. Have you used a toilet? Thank socialism. Have you ever walked in a park? Thank socialism.

For the record, you’re not that scary. You’re actually pretty sad. If I stop answering you, don’t get your panties in a bunch. I’m either busy or whatever you said is so inexplicably stupid that it doesn’t warrant a response.

Fair to who?

The electoral college has propped up the Republican Party for entirely too long. If a popular vote means the Democrats win every time, maybe it’s time for Republicans to start amending their policies to satisfy the will of the majority of voters? Maybe Republicans are the dinosaur that needs to embrace more progressive policies or turn into petroleum.

It’s natural selection on a political level.

fair compared to other states and from the metric of senators and population

or maybe more people should stop brainlessly watching the news and instead do research by themselves. progressive policys are for the weak and those who want "good" without seeing the obvious trap laid out, "the mouse doesnt realise why the cheese is free untill it is too late"

its propaganda and on set political views taught through schools.
