Wrong. So wrong. There are chosen electors from each state that vote on behalf of what is the popular vote in the state. What this does is even things out so that lowly populated states can still have a bigger say in the matter depending on what is the majority chosen by its citizens.

The electoral college is so outdated and unfair (in my opinion)

The electoral college ensures more balance is achieved. If there was no electoral college, the big cities that all vote democrat would rule the country and the rest of the nation would have no say in the matter. That’s exactly the situation the founding fathers left Europe for, so they weren’t going to create a system that allows it to happen again. With the electoral college, the presidency has been 55/45 between Democrats and Republicans.

It actually was created because the founding fathers were worried about under educated people making under educated choices so they created the electoral college making it so that votes wouldn't be made randomly and people wouldn't make bad decisions. However, a president running could get the most popular vote but not gain 270 votes from the electoral college, making them lose the presidential election. Back in the time were the founding fathers were around, lots of people didn't have access to education but now, more people have access to at least public schools. It's unfair because the majority of the country doesn't make the final decision on who represents them.

People are still as dumb as ever. AOC and Gavin Newsom being voted in proves that.

Yes, the majority of the country doesn't make the definite decision. The reason being is all the most highly populated areas vote the same way, to soon enough the founding fathers knew that whichever party the big cities voted for would decide the fate of the entire country, and the opposing side would never get a foot in the door.

And, the founding fathers intentionally made sure that the United States is a republic, not a democracy, because they saw firsthand how democracies fail.
