It actually was created because the founding fathers were worried about under educated people making under educated choices so they created the electoral college making it so that votes wouldn't be made randomly and people wouldn't make bad decisions. However, a president running could get the most popular vote but not gain 270 votes from the electoral college, making them lose the presidential election. Back in the time were the founding fathers were around, lots of people didn't have access to education but now, more people have access to at least public schools. It's unfair because the majority of the country doesn't make the final decision on who represents them.
