"Free" does not exist. It cannot. Everything has a cost. Everything will have a cost unless every human being unilaterally decides to forgo the concept of money and work only for the good of others, sacrificing their own particular interests for the sake of others needs. Look at the world. Do you expect that to happen?

I don't. Therefore we will stick with a free market that utilizes that greed to benefit consumers instead. It's a much more practical system.

Perhaps if Bernie is somehow elected one day we can have two tax systems...under one everbody who wants to try socialized medicine can pay into a single-payer fund and benefit from that system. Under the other we can have the people who pay fewer taxes BUT also cannot access the government program. They will have to stick with hospitals and insurance companies that cannot be barred from competition with one another due to state boundaries, tax loopholes, etc...I'd be interested to see how that pans out.
