Not really. We've been lowering our emissions since the 90's and it was one of Obama's major priorities. It makes sense that a marked drop would occur during his terms. Our emissions have been dropping after 2017 as well. In fact, our air was rated as the cleanest in the world by the BBC.

I heard that as well. I checked the graph on epa.gov shows an uptick in carbon emissions starting around 2017. What's more interesting, is that we may have had the greatest decrease in emissions by a percentage, our per capita emissions are still grotesquely high. I'd believe Trump was more of an economist if he would reinstate the Waters of the United States rule from 2015.

The per capita emissions can be explained by the fact that our population isn't huge compared to our industrial base. If the U.S implemented a carbon tax or a better cap-and-trade system we could cut our carbon emissions by 2030 to the Paris accord targets we set. However a poorly implemented tax would backfire, so I'm not sure how it'll be played.
