I used to travel for a living, and there was a co-worker who became a good friend who also travelled. Sometimes we travelled together, and at other times we had totally different destinations and schedules. We both played some wicked pranks on each other. He once stole my car, and parked it about a mile away from our offices.
On one of my more dreadful trips, it was a day full of missed connections, lost luggage and bad food. I arrived at the hotel very late at night and the desk clerk told me that my hotel reservation had been cancelled. I noticed somebody sitting in a darkened room, wearing a large cowboy hat that was bobbing up and down with laughter just about the time I was about to pull the desk clerk over the counter. He had gotten me once again by slipping the desk clerk a few bucks to make the prank credible.
On one of his trips where he actually relocated to New Mexico with his wife for a few months, I put up a ‘For Sale’ sign at his home that also had with a “Sold” sign pasted on top of it. I also replaced his mailbox with a different one with a different name on it. These types of pranks went on and on with us for many years, and we always remained good friends. Sadly, he has passed on. But we sure had some fun with each other.
For this envelope prank, his wife had gone out to get the mail, and was really pissed when she got back into the house. The envelope contained a very simple note that said “Let’s get together for lunch”. Both of them had a good laugh!
