If you check with Dr. Fauci's statements, they will show you that every single suggestion made by the scientists (e.g. him and Dr. Birx, etc.) to Trump was taken by Trump. Not once has Trump over-ruled the scientists.
And you have to keep in mind that Fauci has also said that when he makes a recommendation, it's based entirely on science, not on other facts, such as the damage that a lockdown does to the health (physical and mental) of those being locked down, the increased cases of preventable health issues like heart attacks, increase in alcoholism, spousal abuse, child abuse, etc. So he's admitted that he just gives Trump the straight scientific suggestion, with no consideration given to all the other factors that Trump, as president, has to take into account. And each and every time, Trump has done what Fauci recommended.
So, I don't know where you get your talking points, other than from blathering idiots like Nancy Pelosi. The problem was, and still is to a certain extent, that we didn't know enough about the virus to know with certainty what steps to take in order to mitigate it.
btw, speaking of "following the science", there's something new from the WHO that hasn't been covered by the mainstream media. (not that I follow them that much anyway...) Were you aware that the WHO is now saying lockdowns are *not* the tactic to use in combating covid?

Now that right there, is some "science" that doesn't fit in with the Democrats' approach to crushing our economy in advance of the election. And that is why it's not being reported by the 'get-rid-of-Trump-at-all-costs' media.
