Very poor choice of attack

Ok, this is a story no one will believe...

I hit an enderman with an arrow here's how it happened
on one of my Minecraft worlds, I was fighting a zombie after my wolf killed it my bow was still loaded once I let go of my mouse an Enderman teleported right to the arrow like it literally went on the arrow and it got hit and when I was heading back to my house the Enderman randomly appeared and killed me...

hmm. today from a video i learned that Endermans could get hit by arrows but it will only bounce off and not hurt them
