During weeks 5-7 we learn a lot of interesting ideas about culture and anthropologists. First was about culture shock. Culture shock is the first feeling of panic when you first time far from home, or from your country. You are new to the language, community, and culture, so you feel discomfort. Most of us have culture shock experience. At least when we are joining a new school or college. Second was the strange and the familiar. It is how some anthropology researches make people evil or make the normal to strange. We saw an example of The Nacirema. Nacirema is the back words of America. It shows how normal we can change it to strange. Also, we learn about inventing primitives. This was about modern and primitives and how anthropology plays. It was about eurocentric evolutionary theory of culture with Anthropology, and the problems it created. How the Europeans colonized and treated the people under their colonization. In addition, we saw a video called the Cannibal Tours. This was how the group of European and U.S tourists treated the people Papua New Guinea and cultural misunderstandings.
