The 2014 Scottish Independence referendum. But how would they vote today post-Brexit nonsense? | image tagged in scotland | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
For the record, I didn't support Scottish independence in the 2014 referendum.

I have always supported all of Britain keeping its butt in the E.U. and therefore preserving the U.K.'s long-term stability.

However, thanks to the Brexit nonsense, I totally understand why many more Scots are upset and considering their options.

Brexit is not nonsense. The European Union is nonsense.

Is Brexit nonsense, or is the E.U. nonsense? Survey says... | image tagged in european union, map | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
The E.U. is the world's largest trading bloc, the 2nd largest economy (after the U.S.), and will still be both of those things after the U.K. leaves.

The E.U. will still be on Britain's doorstep, an essential trading partner, and it's never going away. Matter of fact, the E.U. will necessarily become more Franco-German without the U.K.'s involvement. The U.K. leaving just removed its own influence.

And now the U.K. will have to make its way alone in a world full of sharks (U.S., E.U., Russia, China, India, and other rising powers) who will be in a better negotiating position due to Britain's smallness and desperate need for new deals.

Brexit is a statement of national sovereignty. In the European Union, faceless self-important, overpaid bureaucrats with useless college degrees make laws for nations they don’t even live in. For example, the United Kingdom, as members of the European Union, were only allowed to catch 20% of the fish in British territorial waters. This cost us tens of thousands of jobs in coastal communities. These bureaucrats who make these outrageous rules are unelected, and they cannot be removed.

The European Parliament meets in Brussels, but once a month, they load the contents of their offices and papers into large plastic containers, and load them into lorries, and they drive them nearly 650 miles to a French city named Strasbourg, and the parliament then sits there. This happens twelve times a year, from an organisation who claim that they want to reduce their level of carbon footprint. Their accounts have not been given a clean bill of health by the auditors for the last twenty years. Moving backwards and forwards between Brussels and Strasbourg costs €300 million every year. And this cannot be reformed, because that would require all 28 member governments to agree. The French are never going to agree to that, because it is in their economic interests for the EU traveling circus to go to Strasbourg every month. The institutions themselves are virtually incapable of reform.

I’ll be damned if I’m going to give up my rights as a British citizen so that some European bureaucrat can tell me how to live my own life.

So it is no wonder that, on June the 23rd, 2016, the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. Some people are refusing to accept this fair outcome. They are demanding for a second referendum to be held, without the outcome of the first one. They refuse to abide by the rules of democracy. The European Union opposes democracy, and the same goes for those who wish for the UK to remain there, despite the fair democratic outcome.

So, in short, the point of Brexit is freeing the United Kingdom from the oppressive and unfair rule of the tyrannical European Union, despite the baseless protests of remainers (or, as I like to call them, remoaners).
