No, all troopers are automatically assigned to the 912 Squadron. But you can switch to the 405 squadron at any time. The Troopers, are 912 and 405

Let me help explain. I used to be Trooper25-912Squadron, I was assigned to 912Squadron when I joined the Troopers, that was the only squadron that was made when I joined. All the Trooper names were supposed to be: [Trooper + Number]-[AssignedSquadron] but we have been neglecting that step.

05 is reforming the 912 Squadron (the current squadron where all non 405Squadron troopers are at) to a more attack/protect role and gave the 405Squadron the support role instead of having all 3 (Attack/Protect/Support) be with 912.
