So? I grew up with the Star Wars prequels.
They’re great movies, but people everywhere love to rip on them. And nowhere in my life have I ever responded to criticism of the prequels with “if you don’t like it, just don’t watch them.” Because there are genuine ways to defend those movies with in-film context.
Also, in terms of film-making, less is more. Any generation could enjoy Star Wars. I enjoyed the originals as a kid just like how my parents did.
The idea of there being new entries in the franchise for a “newer generation” or a “more inclusive fan base” is honestly kind of laughable when you think about it. Like I said, anyone can enjoy Star Wars just as anyone can enjoy Transformers.
