yeah , apparently the ending came very abruptly for them and they didn't like the message that was perceived . there was a minature riot , and then the creator came out with the films and eventually there was a 'revamp' of the entire series... just SAD.
imo, that anime has one of those ULTRA hardcore endings like 'technolyze' and 'serial experiments lain' . . . took me a while to wrap my head around it all, but . . . oh man, crazy ppl out there !
