I'm not a vegetarian. I did consider to become one as the idea of killing animals to be my food does disturb me a little. I am however an aspie and it gives me trouble eating plat food due to the texture of that kind of food and in order not to endanger my health or to torture myself I didn't push the idea through. My condition in this is not to be underestimated so be careful with your judgment. I need to say this as much of things aspies suffer from are easily swept under the carpet, but enough about that.
Now eating the vega way is not necessarily better for you. Meat does contain stuff you need, however there are other ways to get the stuff... well most of it. Eating meat only is of course also a bad idea when it comes to your health. Some people claim it's better for the environment, but if you do more studies into their argumentation you find that one busted as well. The stories they tell are only part of the truth not the whole truth... (hushing about vital facts, makes the facts you mention imply a different truth... facts can bring forth a lie... odd but true).
One vegetarian I know had some reasons that do make sense. He was against it that animals are solely bred for the purpose of being killed and eaten, and most of the meat you find at the butcher were set up that way. He was realistic enough to feed cats meat though, knowing that cats will die horribly without meat. He is a bit in conflict about some kinds of fish. Some are caught in open sea, and then you have animals who were not bred to be eaten but simply caught in a kind of hunt (although in professional fishing the amounts are a bit big, which is also a point for discussion). Today much of fish in the store is however bred in a special kind of farm, which was also against his position.
As I said I am not a vegetarian, but I am against the waste of meat. I am against the waste of food in general, but meat in particular. I always pains me when I have to dispose meat, and I always try to prevent it. The idea an animal died in vain pains me.
