Nice to note is that when Book #7 wasn't released there was a rumor (which Rowling back then already denied and now that Book #7 does indeed state otherwise we know that rumor is false) that Peter Pettrigrew would be the one who'd kill Remus Lupin. Rowling was impressed by the theory as it was clearly based on the myths about silver bullets being the only thing that helps to kill a werewolf, so it did show their fans were up with their mythology (on which Harry Potter is, like many fantasy works, heavily based) and were thinking ahead.
Of course, there was also a rumor stating that Voldemort would be Harry's father, to which Rowling responded with the remark: You've been watching too much Star Wars.
