No. If there is a political spectrum where the far end of the Left is Communism, Fascism is on the opposite side. It's the far end of the Right.
Are there similarities between communism and fascism? Yes, of course.
Are there similarities between democracy and fascism? Yes, of course.
Like a similarity- both communism and fascism reject any identity that isn't bound to the nation. So, like the idea of being Catholic, Protestant, or Irish, or Gay can't be tolerated in Fascism or Communism. You're either an American or get the f**k out (and usually, you're physically removed and/or killed).
another similarity between Fascism and Democracy- private property.
In communism, that's just not a thing. The means of production and wealth are owned by everyone.
But in Fascism and Democracy, property can be owned by a single individual. In fascism, that property can be claimed by the state and distributed to someone else- usually a close ally of the leadership. In a pure democracy, no, that's not gonna happen. You'll rarely get the votes for that.
And military service- in communism, and democracy- they ask for the sacrafice. Fascism- it's a duty that you should be honored to perform. Sacrafice to the nation is demanded.
I recommend that you start with How Fascism Works by Jason Stanley. You can get it on Amazon (search for AISN: 0525511857). Or ask your local library to get it for you.
You know, that socialist institution that makes sure you have all the books you could possibly want for free.
