Did you know that, in case of emergency, Alaska is legally able to split into three states, all of which will still be bigger than Texas?

I knew that Texas could disintegrate if it so chose, but had no idea Alaska could as well!

What terrifies me most about all this is it would likely saddle the U.S. with an insurmountable number of GOP Senators, although Texas is slowly turning into a purple state.

If that ever happened I reckon we’d quickly see a California breakup, statehood for D.C. and possibly Puerto Rico, etc.

What matters is not it size. It is, as far as I know, much less populated than other areas, so it matters less in a sense - when not taken into account its strategic location, for example concerning air transportation
