They are the same actor, though.... Nobody understand why the change in looks.
Silly detail, the change was put in place from HP3 onward, and in the computer game the old looks were still used.

the change was because of the different director, but it does not explain why it was necessary
Yeah, but he was the only one changed (except for the looks of Dumbledore as that actor was completely replaced, due to the death of Richard Harris, and the new looks were more fitting for Michael Gambon, which is an understandable choice).
