Actually both of those are. Color doesn't matter.

Neither are; neither are capable of fully automatic fire which is the prime characteristic of "assault" weapons.

Drawing from federal and state law definitions, the term assault weapon refers primarily to semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns that are able to accept detachable magazines and possess one or more other features. Some jurisdictions define revolving cylinder shotguns as assault weapons
Credit to Wikipedia.

There a reason for weapons to fire fully automatically.

In looking for a source for defining what is and isn't an assault weapon, I would lean on the military, and not Wikipedia, for a definition. The characteristics you cite were written by (mostly left wing) politicians and have little to do with the lethality They counted bayonet lugs for example. When was the last mass bayoneting you heard about?

Since nearly all semi-automatic fire arms meet the criteria you cite, all semi-automatic weapons are subject to being banned by left wing radicals; a truly scary prospect in light of the left's efforts to de-fund and disarm police, leave criminals on the street, and leave law-abiding Americans relatively unarmed in the face well armed lawbreakers.

Well, I agree that the government banning our means of self-defense is scary, but my point reamains too.

[image deleted]You did not do as suggested to leave the conversation.

You have swallowed anti-gun misinformation whole. and have no firsthand knowledge of the issues at hand.

You feel disarmament of the populous is scary, but are repeating the anti-gun talking points.

I would love to have a conversation and take you to the range to give you some hands on first person experience. Since we do not know where each is it would be productive for you to reach out in your area to find a gun club or those interested in firearms for self defense.

I am absolutely sure that you can find nice people that will walk you through firearms safety and get you opportunities to learn the truth.

I have not swallowed anti-gun misinformation. I love guns, even yesterday I went to my friends' house and shot multiple guns (38 special, 9mm Luger, and a 22lr and 223 bolt action. I know and follow firearm safety. Your assumption that I am repeating "anti-gun talking points" because I don't know any better is foolish. If the majority of people call something by a new name, then that new name becomes a name for it. An Armalite Rifle model 15 is an assault rifle. Just because that name was given to it by foolish people doesn't matter.

And when they call crap apple pie you will eat it.

No, because when they started calling ARs assault rifles I didn't start assaulting people.

"If the majority of people call something by a new name, then that new name becomes a name for it."

"Ain't" was for a long time, considered uncouth. As its use became widespread, acceptability grew. Your point is made.

That doesn't mean the misuse of words should not be resisted. The problem is that "whoever controls the language, controls the argument"

If this argument is not going to be controlled by leftists, we cannot allow them to control the language. "Assault" is scary and therefore useful to their agenda; disarming America in advance of their redistribution of wealth.

Why does the MSM report that the "proterters" are carrying semi-auto rifles, but everyone else is a "Militia member" carrying "Asault rifles"?

They are actually the same thing. Enjoy your apple pie.

I have to agree with you, although I don't think calling ARs and AKs "assault weapons" is as scary as you make it sound.
