Tell that to the people who have attacked Del (and sometimes me) for it

I imagine there was spirited debate on both sides of this subject, but I didn’t follow all of it honestly.

However I did also see attacks going the other direction, calling those who believed in this concept crybabies, etc.

Well I'll tell ya what it's about. Most of the people complaining about it (not all) just want to try and get rid of the competition somehow and get more attention for themselves.
I believe ones like Cursed_Trainwatcher, although somewhat misguided, claim others have "popular user privilege" for somewhat right reasons. On the other hand, users like Memegamer3_animated and Ship-Shap just want more for themselves and are jealous of Del's success.

Yeah I have a crap ton of points and I'm perfectly happy with them, I don't really need more. My intention was never to drag people down with it and I wish my supporters didn't attack del over it.
Like I said, I have a crap ton of points and I want new users to be paid attention to.

I guess some supporters got too passionate about your candidacy and lost sight of the concept's true meaning. That's unfortunate but I guess inevitable in campaigns...

Now is the time to put aside minor differences, because one trait every single person here shares as far as I can tell is to make ImgFlip a better place. When it comes to ending hate, the similarities in all the platforms are striking. So every vote cast was a vote to make that happen.

I mean Cursed_Trainwatcher is popular himself, and Ship-Shap has more followers than almost anyone not named Raydog, who_am_i or RYKAHNE so it’s not like he has anything to gain from this concept in my view.

But if the conversation around this devolved into mudslinging among a bunch of pretty popular to begin with users that’s unfortunate.

Oh well. As for me I try to be more supportive to new memers in general. I don’t have the time to crawl through every single new “fun” stream meme (I really don’t spend a whole lot of things there tbh). But I do my best to help get new stream concepts that I really like off the ground.

Okay. I guess I can’t comment since I haven’t seen the full picture or heard both sides of this story.

This election’s over (congrats del!) so I don’t need to hear the details if it would stir up animosity.

I’ll say I do think popular user privilege is real nonetheless. Not something I’d thought much about before:
but I’m glad it was discussed and brought to my attention even if the concept may have been weaponized and misapplied.

Congrats again to del. Now is the time for all to come together despite the inevitable bruised feelings of a campaign.

And we can all build a better ImgFlip whether we’re President or not. :)
