There is more evidence to suggest that they don't. Plus you don't need any studies, because the people who manufacture the masks have a disclaimer that says they don't do what the media thinks they do.

No. You cant sue a company on something that can happen either 0.01% of the time or 0.001% or 0.0001% of the time (and on and on).

They say 99.9% because they cannot be completely sure that it kills all germs, just most.

Uhh, that doesn't prove anything, Covid-19 is smaller than the holes in the vast majority of masks (I think the high grade ones might be tight enough but I'm not sure) and it doesn't need water droplets to carry it (that's the part that sold me on masks not helping)
