No one interested in fair elections should want mail-in ballots...unless they are the ones wanting to steal or replace them.

And no one who wants thoughtful voting should be against mail-in ballots. Why not focus on making the mail-in ballots secure instead of doing like the left and removing yet another freedom?

I'm not sure how vote-by-mail is thoughtful, but vote in person isn't...

There is no "freedom to vote-by-mail" anywhere in the Constitution so there is nothing to take away. Had this been a tried and true method that had been proven in the real world to be extremely difficult to tamper with, then I would be fine with it. But sadly, there are many examples of fraud just recently that show the exact opposite.

Not sure how they can make them secure (and ensure integrity) short of requiring a fingerprint on the ballot and a copy of some form of ID included with it. That being said, I have a sneaking suspicion that if the security and integrity of the ballots could be guaranteed, the left would not be pushing for it so hard.

1) Mail-in voting allows time and privacy to think and research the issues and the candidates, including on the obscure elections that no one and nothing tells you is going to be on your ballot. This is why I became an absentee even before my state became universally mail-in. I like the idea of encouraging other people to also take their time to look past mere campaign slogans.

2) No one is saying vote-by-mail is in the Constitution and anyone who is is a moron. That's neither here nor there.

3) Several states, including my own have been doing it for years. Other states implementing it for the first time under emergency conditions (real or perceived) is indeed an issue, but one where they can talk to those states who've been there. Making their job more difficult by attacking the post office is the wrong tactic, disturbs far more than voting, and is divisiveness that stoops to the level of the left. States where people must stand in line all day to vote, if they even get to, is also a problem, after all. Really there is corruption on both sides.

In my state (WA) there is an external envelope where one must sign to verify that it is you. There is a warning about criminal charges for voting illegally right there with it. Apparently they are checked because it was in the news a few years back that if you didn't include your phone number, they couldn't contact you to verify if something looked amiss. If this isn't secure enough, then we should be working together to look for a solution, including finger prints and/or copying an ID.

4) We gotta vote somehow, and other forms of voting have also had issues. There is no 'tried and true method." Fraudulent people are going to fraud. I am far more irritated that when my reliably blue state looked to have voted-in a Republican governor a few years back, the Democrats were somehow allowed to request multiple recounts till they got the result they wanted. Now THAT is something questionable my state should change.

5) Of course the left has reason to want this! There are a lot of people worried about Covid, and whether those fears are warranted or not is not really the issue here. In fact, the right's resistance is at least as indicative of politicking since both me and my fellow conservative in Oregon, another mail-in state, have been voting by mail for years and have no problem with it. It hasn't been much of an issue till now. I can't say I agree w/ much of my state's other decisions, but they do get a few right.
