We don't account for that many...The reason the number is so high is because this is how we count them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEDjjl41xHU

And the reason we count them that way is this: There is an election in November 2020

That’s a weak argument. That wouldn’t inflate our numbers by 500%. Not to mention in the greatest most advanced society on earth, we should be doing far better than expected. We should probably account for less than 1% of global deaths considering how good our medical system is and it’s ability to save lives. And yet, here we are, getting beat by 3rd world countries.

On the contrary, it is a strong argument against the numbers in the meme. Grossly inflating the death numbers by counting every death as a covid death with no regard to whether someone dies WITH covid or OF covid, speaks directly to the US accounting for 25% of covid deaths. It might not account for a 500% increase, but it would account for at least 200%-300% increase which would put the numbers in line with a normal to slightly bad flu season (and no one has ever treated a flu season like this).

Also, the US is doing far better than most countries on a case fatality basis: https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/08/05/899365887/charts-how-the-u-s-ranks-on-covid-19-deaths-per-capita-and-by-case-count

So our medical system is doing a fantastic job with treatment of this disease. Far better than most other countries.

There is zero chance it would inflate the numbers even by 200-300%. That means 2/3 of people who died from covid were going to die of natural causes anyway? I call bullshit. The link you posted states we are the 8th highest country for death per capita, out of over 185 countries. And 24th in deaths per case...that’s unacceptable. Secondly, you actually believe that 15% of people in the uk who get covid die? I thought it was just the flu season? How can the flu kill 15% of people? Or did it make its way through retirement facilities like it did here, but they managed to actually control it, so it didn’t spread to the larger population? Those are clearly the inflated numbers.

The point is this...Because they've decided to count the deaths differently than they do WITH EVERY OTHER DISEASE in order to inflate the numbers, we'll never know how many it's been inflated by (any guess is just that, a guess). You and I have no way of knowing what the actual number is so neither one of us can use the reported numbers as a concrete source for anything.
Sure YOU say there's "zero chance" it's over reported by that much, but how do you know that? You don't.

And 24th in deaths per cases is excellent...certainly a far cry from number 1.

24th worst**, how is being in the bottom 15% of the world “excellent”? But anyways, deaths per case isn’t relevant. The total case number in every country isnt very accurate because there were healthy people who had the virus and/or didn’t get tested. And in our case, our president refused the offer for tens of thousands of tests from the WHO, demanded the cdc make their own test(which it kept failing to do in the first couple of months) leaving us essentially blind. Realistically though, the death per case rate is believed to actually be somewhere around 1% globally. Now let’s do some basic algebra. If X cases have a death rate of 1%, how many cases produce 182,000+ deaths?
X(1%) = 182,000
X = 182,000/(.01)
X = 18.2 million total cases

But I’ll tell u what, let’s say they somehow f**ked up 82,000 times and only 100,000 deaths are real. That would be...
X(.01) = 100,000
X = 100,000/(.01)
X = 10 million total cases

We’ve only reported 5.9 million cases so far. In otherwords, the number you cling to as a success is based on a bullshit number purposely reduced and restricted by an inept president. anywhere between 4 and 12 million people got sick and either couldn’t get tested, or didn’t even realize they were sick and continued infecting others.
