Surprisingly enough and years ago the only place I had planned to move to on the west coast was Seattle because the temperature is mild all year and I love the rain..

Well if you like Spring and summer year round So Cal is the best. Never to cold and nearly always sunny. Seattle has a high suicide rate as all rainy foggy cities do.

A drive up or down the coast is recommended at least once as well as a Lake Tahoe or Mammoth lakes excursion. For the grand tour Leave from LA go through Yosemite up to Mammoth then up to Carson City, NV up the back side of the sierras. Cross back over the sierras at Lake Tahoe. Then west to San Francisco (drive through, don't stay) and South down Pacific Coast Highway all the way to San Diego. That doesn’t even take in the Equally gorgeous northern part of the state where the redwoods are.

Redwoods now that is something I'd love to see And I've heard the Pacific Coast Highway was gorgeous it's one of those roads like route 66 or the Blue Ridge Parkway you've got to see.
