And a combination of financial cuts and new rules for NYPD makes for very brazen criminals. de blasio is directly responsible for all of that and NYC is definitely not better for it.

I know that what I said is correct because I have data to disprove your assertion that the release of prisoners or out of bail prisoners lead to an uptick in murder. Only one person out of the 1500 early releases due to covid was rearrested for murder and 7 for gun charges. This has a negligible impact on shootings in New York City. Also, the rikers island releases had a negligible impact on overall crime as well, considering that overall crime decreased in the first 7 months of January. Though it is impossible to pinpoint whether specific crimes spikes like burglaries and auto thefts are attributable to the covid prisoners, I doubt it's a major factor.

Rearrested means caught. Just because you didn't catch them, doesn't mean that criminals released didn't go back to their normal work - recidivism is over 80% in NY and probably more than that when there's lawlessness, and a diminished police force. Over time, this will be even more apparent and you will eventually see rearrests close to normal recidivism rates.
