I felt like naming Marvel was the most straightforward send-up here. It seemed like the putdown by the character would say "Marvel dollies," not "DC dollies": from her point of view, "nutty comics" ➔ "Marvel" ➔ "all this stuff is overblown." It wouldn't matter to her whether the characters are DC or Marvel because it wouldn't mean anything to her to differentiate them, they'd be all the same to her, so she'd lump together '60s comics superheroes as "the same picture." I wasn't thinking I'd agree with her but the line made me laugh anyway. Stan Lee came from DC and moved over to Marvel, from where he seemed to me to have an influence on DC. Lee kind of epitomizes '60s comic books to me. Of course you're right, the Dynamic Duo are DC. I hadn't really thought about a slip so much as how I imagined her making a quip that deflated the era's comics genre, now so exalted, and though I love the Marvel and DC stable the line makes me laugh anyway.
