A civilized society, by definition, would have no need for police to maintain order. Get it? Because they are already civilized. Moreover, the institution of police does more harm than good. The system as it presently exists induces crime, it doesn't suppress it. Nobody, including the victims, ever have their needs met. We would achieve more by making sure everyone's needs are met.
