there is definitely cool de-duplication tech that can be used, but unfortunately it's extremely easy to circumvent by making small changes, and sometimes small changes are the perfect addition to totally change the joke and make it 10X funnier, so human judgement is generally required

Ah you are almost getting it. I am saying compare memes to the AI generators random output. AI is a good enough standard to filter garbage content that humans make thoughtlessly. This bad content is then held up by the "un-de-duplicator" for hours before it reaches admins or streams.

That way users are never put off by viewing content - possibly esoteric content like my own that is neither bad or good but does not fit the AI norms - that would make the ImgFlip experience worse. That is memes that fail to not duplicate against AI are buried in lower pages due to delay.
