A great rapper, maybe even the GOAT, taken from us way too soon. But can he be the greatest with such a small discography?

Probably a controversial question today, but hear me out.

From The Notorious B.I.G. we got two certified classic albums: "Ready to Die" and "Life After Death" (a double-album, technically incomplete as he was recording the album when he passed).

B.I.G.'s flow was phenomenal, lyrics witty, delivered with a trademark husky voice that was technically perfect. The underlying production was great. His songs continue to be played to this day. He hustled from nothing to get to where he was at and told his origin story with pizazz on tracks like "Juicy" and "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems." All reasons he's often labeled as the greatest.

It's not fair to Biggie that his life was taken too early.

But it's also not fair to the other rappers who have had to hustle during their careers over a much longer period of time, managing career growing pains, cultural shifts, and stylistic evolutions that they've had to adapt to and overcome.

Rappers like Jay-Z, Ghostface Killah (pictured), Eminem have kept up great output over the decades, much of it excellent. They've all made some missteps and had some dud verses and songs too, but that's probably inevitable once your output reaches a certain level.

50 Cent is another instructive example. If he had died early like B.I.G. after dropping this 5-star certified classic album, he'd probably be topping a lot of people's GOAT lists.

But his career thereafter has been mostly a disappointment, IMO.

No I think he had more than 2 albums or where those just remasters
