Mary Lou and Umbridge

For those of you that have never seen Fantastic Beasts The one on the left is Mary Lou Barbone who beats her three adopted children. She punished Credence for his magic and beats him for it. She created a society called the second salemers who kill and hate all magical presences. So yes, not as much hate as Umbridge but she’s up there.

Repulsive as Mary Lou may be.... She doesn't come anywhere close to Umbridge.

However for some reason female villains can really be more evil than their male colleagues could ever be. Let's take Bellatrix... She's funny, and we love her as a villain, but if this is all real, I'd rather face Voldemort himself than Bellatrix.... At least Voldemort will make it quick. Bellatrix likes (as Dumbledore says it) to play with her food before she eats it.

"This is your last chance" and the smile that comes with it. But evil and scary as it may be... He doesn't manage to be as repulsive as those two women...

I wouldn't call it fandom.... Rowling herself was responsible for the base scripts.
Now what I can say for Mary Lou is that her role is of lesser significance than Umbridge's. It was enough to know that Credence was being violently abused. The role Umbridge played (particularly in the novels) went a lot further than that. (I hate the fact that the movie doesn't reveal it was Umbridge who sent those Dementors after Harry and Dudley for starters, or that they left out Umbridge's hand searching for Sirius). As a matter of fact Umbridge dominated the fifth novel so much that Voldemort himself has become less significant, in fact, he became completely insignificant and the meetup with him at the end was more because the hush-up Umbridge had to uphold had to be broken at some point. All that was needed to be known about Mary Lou is that she mistreated Credence as you simply had to know why he became an obscurial, but the story's focus lies on Percival Graves who is at the end revealed to be an impostor and to actually be Gellert Grindelwald.

This difference in plot focus did allow Umbridge to show her evil more than Mary Lou ever could. Of course Mary Lou does not show those stereotypical girlish treats and also never says "hem hem".... It's not exactly Umbridge's role as a whole that made me hate her... It's her entire presentation.
