Yes, for those who are'nt huge fans of Star Trek TOS, I'll explain. This is a scene from the classic first-season episode "The return of the Archons." It's the one where the Starship Enterprise visits a world where the entire population is brainwashed by a central authoritarian computer- (Landru). Every person is hypnotised into a sort of zombie-contentment, with periods of extreme violence & riots programmed in unison...(sound familiar?) The monk-robed Goons are the Enforcers who ensure compliance- all in the name of the "greater good" of course. In the end, our Starfleet Heroes intervene, destroy Landru, and all the people get their freedom & humanity back. Let's hope our planet Earth version of the story turns out as well. 🙄
