while car-dependent cities make it harder for people in the suburbs to access hospitals.

Suburban sprawl makes trains inefficient. The average person lives miles from the nearest station and still needs a car to get from their house to the train, and possibly from the train to work.

Suburban sprawl is inefficient. taking up pointless space just to be far away from the city's urban economic center where many go to work. also, they don't nullify rail transportation completely. streetcars, medium-capacity transit, and commuter rail could easily serve suburban areas.

regarding dirtiness pollution-wise, trains can be fueled by electricity, while cars are mostly fueled by burning gasoline. car usage can increase emissions per person, making even diesel trains more efficient than cars.

the noise produced by passenger trains is very limited. high-speed trains are getting lightweight, decreasing the noise produced upon wheel and track interaction. maglev trains don't interact with the track at all, making even less noise. highways, in comparison, make a continuous droning noise with the occasional honking, crashing, emergency vehicle, truck engine, and sports car engine. once a highway is complete, that noise never goes away unless the highway is demolished

freeways also take up more space than railroads do, but no one ever complains about that. many freeways have divided neighborhoods because of how impassible they are.

I like trains. I used to commute on a train for several years until I got a new job without easy access to public transit.

if we invest in rebuilding our transit network, i'm sure a rail system of some type will be for your usage again
