The racial caste system that we are still burdened with in a wide swathe of the world was a direct product of colonialism.
Whites at the top, mixed-race/mulattos underneath, natives wiped out or totally sidelined, and black slaves under pretty much everyone.
Nowhere is this more clear than the Western Hemisphere which was radically changed by European colonization.
We can’t turn back the clock, but we should recognize this dreadful history and do our best to fix it.
