No. Christians believe in the Trinity, while Muslims believe we practice polytheism because of that. Allah is impersonal and doesn't care about what happens to us. God is personal and loves and cares for each and every one of us individually. Allah condones violence and taking other people's lives to try and convert the world, God wants us to be in this world, fighting the spiritual fight, but not of it and doing what the world wants us to do, to fight with slander and violence.

Hey. Btw, I’m a muslim. That is not what Allah is, nor what Allah does. Please tell me where you got this information.

Hi GirlOfRays, welcome to this stream; are you a Sunni or a Shia?

I don’t believe in separating ourselves from our Muslim brothers and sisters, and identify as “just Muslim”. A lot of other people have the same views as me, but if I must, Sunni. Shia has way more superstitious beliefs.

The Shia also do not believe as you do about the Quran; but instead see it as inspired as the successive Imans, which they've believed, to be numbering 11. Currently awaiting the 12th to come back and rule.

Interestingly this is what we Protestants and Sunnis have in common; seeing scripture as the final authority, except you have the Haith; saying allegedly from Muhammand himself. There's a third body I can't remember yet, but probably the writings of other Sunnis

Are you sure that using a video by David Wood is the best course of action?

He is not very gentle, admittedly, but he's the best source in speaking about Jihad

I'm sorry, I've gotten this from multiple books on religion, one of which is Understanding the Times, and a few things I've read. Please, I do want to understand, if you could tell me who Allah is from your perspective that would help me a lot

Allah is the name Muslims use for the supreme and unique God, who created and rules everything. The heart of faith for all Muslims is obedience to Allah's will. Allah has always existed and will always exist. Allah knows everything that can be known.

The prophet Muhammad, sometimes spelled Mohammed or Mohammad, was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in 570 A.D. Muslims believe he was the final prophet sent by God to reveal their faith

We believe, according to the Quran and ancient texts an angel named Gabriel visited Muhammad in 610 A.D. while he was meditating in a cave. The angel ordered Muhammad to recite the words of Allah.

Muslims believe that Muhammad continued to receive revelations from Allah throughout the rest of his life.

Starting in about 613, Muhammad began preaching throughout Mecca the messages he received. He taught that there was no other God but Allah and that Muslims should devote their lives to this God.

In the religion of Islam, belief in Allah is the single most important tenet. The Muslim name for God is "Allah," which is simply Arabic for "the (al) God (Ilah)." Muslims believe that Muhammad was Allah's chief servant and messenger.

Muslims believe that Allah is the all-powerful Creator of a perfect, ordered universe. He is transcendent and not a part of his creation, and is most often referred to in terms and with names that emphasize his majesty and superiority. Among the 99 Beautiful Names of God (Asma al-Husna) in the Quran are: the Creator, the Fashioner, the Life-Giver, the Provider, the Opener, the Bestower, the Prevailer, the Reckoner, and the Recorder.

Although the God of Islam has revealed his will through the prophets, his actual nature remains ultimately unknowable. According to one Islamic scholar, Allah's will "is all we have, and we have it in perfection in the Quran. But Islam does not equate the Quran with the nature or essence of God. It is the Word of God, the Commandment of God, the Will of God. But God does not reveal Himself to anyone." {2} In the words of another writer, "only adjectival descriptions are attributed to the divine being, and these merely as they bear on the revelation of God's will for man. The rest remains mysterious."

Along with Judaism and Christianity, Islam belongs to the religious category of "ethical monotheism." Allah is a God of justice, who expects righteous behavior and submission to the divine will (the word Islam means "submission," and a Muslim is literally "one

Sry, I ran out of space:

Along with Judaism and Christianity, Islam belongs to the religious category of "ethical monotheism." Allah is a God of justice, who expects righteous behavior and submission to the divine will (the word Islam means "submission," and a Muslim is literally "one who submits") and punishes unrighteousness.

"If ye love Allah, follow me; Allah will love and forgive you your sins." (Qur'an 3:31) "Allah loves not transgressors" (2:190) "He loves not creatures ungrateful or wicked" (2:276) "Allah loves not those who do wrong" (3:57, 140) "Allah loves not the arrogant, the vainglorious" (4:36). Yet divine mercy is not absent from the Qur'an. It teaches that God will respond to anyone who cries out to him in distress and that he mercifully provides guidance to humanity so they can follow "the straight path." {7} The primary way God has done this is through his prophets or messengers, the last and most important of which is the Prophet Muhammad.

In the article on Islam for the Encyclopædia Britannica, Fazlur Rahman notes how the Muslim concept of God relates to the religious context in which the faith arose:

This picture of God-wherein the attributes of power, justice, and mercy interpenetrate-is related to the Judeo-Christian tradition, whence it is derived with certain modifications, and also to the concepts of pagan Arabia, to which it provided an effective answer. The pagan Arabs believed in a blind and inexorable fate over which man had no control. For this powerful but insensible fate the Qur'an substituted a powerful but provident and merciful God. {8} Finally, to conclude with a description of the God of Islam in the words of Muslims themselves, this is an excerpt from the same text on God found on several Islamic websites:

Allah is the proper name applied to the true God Who exists necessarily by Himself comprising all the excellent Divine names and attributes of perfection. Allah is One and Unique. He has no son, partner, or equal. He is the sole Creator and Sustainer of the universe. Every creature bears witness to His Oneness, Divinity, and Ruboobiyyah, and to the uniqueness of His attributes and names. His essence does not resemble any other essences. He does not exist in anything, nor does anything exist in Him. There is none like unto Him. He is the One, the Sole, the Indivisible. He is the Rubb who accomplishes all affairs, Allah is the Omnipotent and the Omniscient. His knowledge comprehends in perfect manner all thing

Ran out of space again:

Every creature bears witness to His Oneness, Divinity, and Ruboobiyyah, and to the uniqueness of His attributes and names. His essence does not resemble any other essences. He is the Rubb who accomplishes all affairs, Allah is the Omnipotent and the Omniscient. His knowledge comprehends in perfect manner all things, hidden or manifest. He is greater than can be encompassed by the knowledge of His creatures. He knows everything, and He is aware of all that take place in the earth or in the heavens. Allah, the Supreme, is the Rubb of everything and has a free hand in the disposal of all affairs. Allah-exalted be He is the One Who manages the things that take place. No affair occurs in the visible or the invisible world without His determination, His decree, His will and His decision, so that what He wills takes place, and what He does not will does not take place. No one who can ever resist His command or change His decision. He is the Merciful One, and His mercy encompasses everything. He is far removed from injustice and tyranny. He is wise in all His actions, just in all His decrees. His justice ensures order in the universe, in which nothing is out of order. There is no one to share His dominion, nor does He take an aide or supporter from His creatures. He is the Rubb of the worlds. He is nearer to man than man's own jugular vein. Whenever a believer is in need or distress calls on Him, He responds. He is above the Seven Heavens, mounting His throne in the manner that suits His grandeur and majesty. Allah has revealed His final Scripture, the Qur'an, to the last of His Messengers, Muhammad, peace be upon him, who was responsible for conveying the Message of Islam to mankind. He is the Exalted Allah. Glory is due to Him. He is far removed from every imperfection.

I have heard some of this before, I have heard the history on more than on occasion. I am curious, does Allah long for a personal relationship with you. Does He need you to worship and be in awe of Him? Does He crave your praise and want you, only you personally? That's what I'm trying to say, I really don't mean or want to offend you, I'm just trying to show the difference.
And I recognize some of those names, mostly because He started out as the same God, and it got messed up along the way.

No not personally. However, he loves those who love him. He listens to our prayers. He just wants us to submit to him love him, be pure, and follow fātwa and follow Islamic rules. The word “Islam” literally mean “submission to God”

I know that it means submission to God. You said he loves those who love him, does he love everyone in the world also? Or just those who follow him?

He loves everyone, but stop loving them when they start turning against and rejecting him.

We also don’t believe in “taking lives and converting the world”. We kill those who are trying to kill us, and those who are sentenced with death by law. We also try to introduce Islam to close friends and stuff, but we aren’t so aggressive if they reject us.

I understand, but there are some radical terrorists that do, so some people, including myself, might get confused. I think I'm starting to understand that, just as with Christianity and most religions that one person doesn't represent the whole view.

I will add that:

1. Islam teaches that the bible has been corrupted by man over time, and so Allah decided choose for himself a new prophet in order to produce the Quran.

And right there that automatically differentiates Allah from God because God (Yahweh) Himelf has said that He preserves His words (Psalm 33:11 & Proverbs 22:12, 19-21).

As a side note... if the OT and NT has been corrupted, then doesn't that mean Allah has failed to preserve his words ? And if he has failed to do so, then what makes the Muslims think he can preserve the Quran?

2. Jesus did not die on the cross (John 19:30 & so naturally, they don't believe that He rose from the dead, nor did He ascend to heaven (John 20 & Acts 1:10-11)

3. That salvation must be earned (Romans 3:19-24 & Ephesians 2;8-9)

4. That the Trinity is Jesus, Joseph, and Mary (Matthew 28:19-20)

5. While both religions teach that there is only one God, the God according to Islam is only one person (persona); thus the biblical notion of the deity of Christ and the Spirit is false (Isaiah 48:16-17 & Matthew 28:19-20).

The Quran actually says several times that the Bible is God's word, and also says several times that God's words cannot be corrupted.

Titus 1:1-2 of the Bible: "Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness, in the hope of eternal life, which God, who CANNOT LIE, promised before time began."
3:54 of the Quran: "But they (the Jews) were deceptive, and Allah was deceptive, for Allah is the best of deceivers"
How can God be both the best of deceivers and incapable of deceiving?
