If you don't mind my playing devil's advocate, if God is all-knowing, all-powerful, everywhere, and good, then why is there suffering and injustice? (I already have an idea what the answer is, but I want to see other's thoughts too)

Hi Aelfwine!

I did a meme on that very subject. On the meme comment box I explained the verses i've used for it: Romans 1:18-25

"I. THE WRATH OF GOD...
... Is through the abandonment of humanity to their own devices (vs. 18).

II. HIS WRATH INCURRED...
... Because of their general disobedience of His word. They knew God (vs. 19-20), but did not love Him as they ought but sinned: by denying the truth of God, currupting it through their own wisdom (21-23).

III. CONSEQUENCE OF DISOBEDIENCE
Therefore, God gave them over to their own way, allowing them to suffer the effects and consequence of their sins (vs. 24), as they live in idolatrous disobedience (vs. 25).

We suffer because we seek other gods thus He not give His wisdom.

We suffer still because we break His commandments.

The world is, "Hell on Earth", because of us.

Chapter Citation.

1. Penal response to sin
2. Natural consequences of sin

God mostly punishes man though the allowance of consequences when men have sinned. the Bible talked about God's face, that when His face was upon Israel, it was blessed but when His face was turned, bad things happen.

At times however, it can be penal. For example, we all know of God's judgment on Canaan through Israel (Deuteronomy 9:4). But in the same manner, Israel was also punished by God drawing hostile nations against it (Ibid 28:49).

Alright, you explained suffering, but what about injustice? Or is all suffering a form of justice? And if it is, then (as an example) what did those with birth defects do? (Again, not actually challenging Christianity, just playing devil's advocate)

Ah, injustice; I've forgotten that.

"11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all." - Ecclesiastes 9:11

It's a bit more complicated but I think it has more to do with the natural allowance of consequences than penal deliberation. It is much like the fact that we have diseases, earthquakes, and storms. Sin has a corruptive effect on everything, and the human mind is not immune.

I cannot remember of any instance in the Bible whether God deliberately caused injustice but if ther were, it's more like one hunting for a bird but snared in his own nest. What I do remember is that injustice comes as a following.

1. As a result of sinful judgment
2. Decisions by fallen man.

It sounds like the same question but the first has to do with injustice done deliberately and the second by those who do not know enough, or had too much bias to render fair and proper judgment

"14 There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:
15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man." - Ecclesiastes 9:14-15

Jesus is one of the best example of several acts of injustices. First he was sold into slavery by his brothers; was later condemned for adultery by his master; neither of which he deserved. But in the end, as Joseph famously have said to the same brothers:

"But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." - Genesis 50:20

Injustices happens to both believers and unbelievers, as naturral as storms,

I do believe that you meant Joseph, but other than that good answer! Thanks for taking the time to state your beliefs and back it up with scripture! God bless!

Lol yes, I meant Joseph the whole time; I wanted to do both but realized I could only pick one to avoid lengthy reading,

You're welcome, and God bless you too!
